The Applied Research activities in Vicomtech-IK4, enclosed within its six application areas, cover a wide spectrum of potential activity sectors.

We aim to show the intregal needs of our clients based on our own know-how, as well as with the available know-how from the GraphicsMedia.net. We also cooperate with other centers when the needs of the user requires so.

Efficiently processing large volumes of biological, genomic and biomedical data, in order to establish better diagnostic, carry out medical parameters analysis, detect symptoms correlations, look for genetic patterns.

We work in:

- Mixed Reality technologies (Virtual and Augmented Reality) for the implementation of experiences based on both currently existing and non-existing historical events and environments.
- Mobile applications based on wireless technologies in order to implement mobiles assistants that allow calculating the location of the user and the transmission of multimedia content in real time to mobile devices.
- Storage, management and indexation systems for multimedia cultural contents based on standards and Semantic Web technologies, as well as intelligent inference engines for browsing and searching contents.
- New interaction interfaces that will provide an added value when recreating cultural contents, including informal learning applications in cultural scenarios.

Digital TV sector  
We work in:

We work in the whole process of creation, transmission and reception of digital TV signals. Mainly DVB-T and DVB-H. We have got a laboratory in which we can make different tests and analysis for any kind of signals (ASI, DVB, MPEG plots, MHP carrousels, etc.)

e-Inclusion sector  
We work in:

Provide to handicapped person and elderly user the access to information technologies by means of natural and accessible user interfaces which permit a natural communication between user and machine.

We work in:

Improve the distance learning process through multimedia Technologies and intelligent tutors which adapt itself to the student needs.
